IT IS FINALLY OPENING DAY

It is about time baseball season started…..I have been looking foward to this day since the Yankees were eliminated last year

Here’s how I see this season panning out-

AL Division winners:- Yankees, Indians, Angels….wildcard: red sox (red sox starting pitching is suspect but the team as a whole is solid)

NL Division winners:- Phillies, Cubs, Diamondbacks,…..wildcard: Dodgers (sorry but the mets rotation is too shaky and they are the second oldest team in baseball)

World Series:- Yankees over Diamondbacks in 5 games…….The Yankees Young pitching will pull through this year. if Joba stays in the pen the yankees could make it a seven inning ball game with Joba and Mariano in the 8th and 9th. The Diamondbacks are a very talented and young team but they are expierienced. They picked up Dan Haren in the offseason and will have a solid pitching staff made up of Webb, Haren, Johnson, Davis and Owings, along with Pena and Lyons in the back end of the bullpen.  The Yankees will out hit their opponents and just barely out pitch their opponents on their way to the 27th World Series victory.

AWARDS:-

MVP’s- A-ROD and Ryan Howard….at least 50 dingers and 130 RBI’s apiece

COMEBACK PLAYERS:- Nick Johnson (NL)….Troy Percival (AL)

CY YOUNG:- Fausto Carmona (AL)…..Cole Hammels (NL)

GOLD GLOVES:- some notable names will be…..Melky Cabrera (OF), Hanley Ramirez (SS), Robinson Cano (2B), Lyle Overbay (1B)

BREAKOUT PLAYERS:- Phil Hughes(SP-YANKEES)….I expect him to get 12-15 wins……BJ Upton (CF_RAYS)…next 20/20 guy…..Adam Wainwright (SP-CARDINALS- solid closer as a rookie but will now get 13 wins as a starter

what does everyone think…..leave a comment

  2. Know it all

    Shades of 96???

    Then:
New Manager/ex catcher = Joe Torre
    6 inning game, 7th = nelson, 8th = mo, 9th = wetteland
    young stud starter = pettitte
youthful energy in the lineup = Jeter
a great aging catcher = Girardi
and a couple big bats = tino, bernie, O’Neill, Strawberry, and Fielder

    Now:
New Manager/ex catcher = Joe Girardi
    6 inning game, 7th = farnsworth, 8th = joba, 9th = mo
young stud starters = hughes and kennedy
youthful energy in the lineup = melky and cano
a great aging catcher = posada
and a couple big bats = Arod, Abreu, Matsui, Giambi, Duncan

    Looks awfully similar…..
